Audition process

Prospective Choristers need not be fully-trained, nor play any musical instruments; we are simply looking for enthusiasm about singing and music, as well as a willingness to learn and develop skills that children will have for the rest of their lives. Choristers must be aged between 8 and 16, with both boys and girls welcome.

Admission to the Junior Choir at St Mary Magdalene is via an informal audition process, where applicants will be given aural tests, and will be asked to sing something they have prepared. Their preparation piece can be anything ranging from a simple song, to a hymn, or simply something they like to sing. Please bring two copies of the music so that they can be accompanied on the piano. Choristers are also welcome to perform a piece on a musical instrument they have learned to demonstrate their musical ability.

The audition process can take place at any time; if you would like to apply, please get in touch with the Director of Music for more information.
